New Delhi. Rohit Sharma Brigade (India vs Australia) is on the target of critics after the 209-run defeat by Australia in the final of the World Test Championship. Pakistan’s veteran spinner Danish Kaneria has attributed the team’s defeat mainly to the poor performance of the batters. Kaneria said that India once again disappointed in the WTC final. The team got a chance to play the final for the second time but they have returned to India after losing again. This is a very poor performance.
Referring to the 4 mistakes of the team, he said on his YouTube channel, ‘First mistake – decided to bowl after winning the toss, second mistake – did not feed Ashwin, third mistake – went with four fast bowlers, not Shardul Thakur here. Ashwin’s place was made and the fourth mistake – the collapse of batting.
Batting has been an issue for India for a long time
He said that India did not bowl well in the first day’s game but the bowlers made a comeback on the second day but after that India’s batting collapsed. Former cricketer Danish said that batting has been an issue for India for a long time. It was Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur who kept India’s pride and saved the team from follow-on. After this the bowlers again performed well but later they got loose. Ashwin was badly needed here. After this, the partnership between Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc scored so many runs that Australia crossed 400.
Pujara played county cricket but failed
Kaneria said that Team India’s batting top order is not working. He especially expressed surprise over Cheteshwar Pujara’s failure in the WTC final. He said, ‘Pujara played county cricket for more than two months before the WTC final. In the county, he made 545 not out with three centuries. The special thing is that he played in this county. After playing for Sussex, he could not take advantage of the situation. This shows that the bowlers were not strong in county cricket and they were successful in scoring runs. This former Pakistan bowler said, ‘Australia’s bowlers are very good, so they (Pujara) could not perform well. He practiced on a similar wicket for a few months and was well aware of the conditions, but despite this both the innings failed to perform well. Along with this, he said that in terms of Australia, Scott Boland bowled amazingly. He took full advantage of the opportunity given by Hazlewood’s injury.
Fourth most successful bowler in Pakistan’s test
Let me tell you, Kaneria has been the second Hindu player to play for the Pakistan team. Before him, Anil Dalpat also played cricket for Pakistan. Danish is the highest wicket-taker spinner for Pakistan in Test cricket. He has 261 wickets in 61 Tests at an average of 34.8. Overall, he is Pakistan’s fourth most successful bowler in Tests. Only Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan have taken more wickets than him. Top spinners like Abdul Qadir, Yasir Shah and Saqlain Mushtaq are also behind Kaneria in terms of wickets.
