The bowler who played 3 matches for Punjab Kings will again enter the auction
Before IPL 2021, Punjab Kings bought the bowler for 14 crores.
Took just 3 wickets in three matches, this time kept his base price of 1.5 crores
new Delhi. There are only a few days left in the mini auction for IPL 2023. This time 405 players will try their luck for the vacant 87 slots. In this, 132 players are foreigners. This time one of the bowlers will be eyeing all the 10 teams in the auction. The name of this bowler is Jhye Richardson, who is from Australia and is currently wreaking havoc in the Big Bash League with his pace. He is playing in the league for the Perth Scorchers, the defending champions.
Jhay has made a bang in the Big Bash League. He took 4 wickets for just 9 runs in 4 overs against Sydney Sixers in the very first match. Due to his performance, the defending champion Perth Scorchers made a winning start in this season of the Big Bash League and he was adjudged the player of the match.
Jhay has registered for the IPL auction to be held on 23rd December. He has kept his base price at Rs 1.5 crore. This is not the first time, when this Australian pacer is landing in the auction. In the IPL 2021 auction, Richardson was bought by the Punjab Kings, not for one or two, but for a full Rs 14 crore. But, in IPL 2021, this speed merchant could not show anything special. Then one part of the tournament was held in India and the other in UAE. He played the first leg and was able to take only 3 wickets in 3 matches. After this, he did not come to play UAE leg.
Richardson didn’t land in the last auction
At the same time, he did not participate in last year’s mega auction as well. This year too, he did not play all the Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup matches due to injury. But, are constantly impressed with their bowling. He went with the Australia team on the tour of Sri Lanka this year and bowled well in ODIs and T20s there. At the same time, he has done well in domestic cricket for Western Australia. He was able to play only two matches in the domestic Sheffield Shield due to injury. But, in that too he took 6 wickets at an average of 22.8. At the same time, he played only one match in Marsh Cup as well. But, took 4 wickets in this too.
Jhay is considered as Australia’s future bowler in limited overs cricket. His stature may not be like Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins, but, he bowls at a good pace and with the kind of form Richardson is in now, no one will be surprised if he gets a big bid in the IPL auction.
