WTC final to be played at The Oval from June 7
Teams of India and Australia will be face to face
New Delhi. Preparations for the ICC World Test Championship Final (WTC Final) are in full swing. India and Australia, the two best teams of the world, will clash at The Oval from June 7. Team India will play the final for the second time, while Australia’s team has reached the title match for the first time. Preparations for this much-awaited final are in full swing. The ICC does not want to leave any stone unturned to invite the spectators to the stadium. For the title match, both the teams have sent their 15-member squads to the ICC. ICC has also announced the umpire for the WTC final.
Many players of the Indian team have started their preparation after reaching England. Captain Rohit Sharma has recently reached England while Virat Kohli has already reached. Richard Illingworth of England and Chris Gaffaney of New Zealand will be the field umpires in the WTC final. June 12 will be a ‘reserve day’ for the WTC final so that in case of inclement weather, the game can be held on this day.

Illingworth was the umpire in the final in the first year as well
This will be Gaffaney’s (48-year-old) 49th Test match, while 59-year-old Illingworth will officiate in his 64th match. Illingworth was also the umpire in the inaugural WTC final two years ago in which New Zealand won by eight wickets over India in Southampton. Another English umpire, Richard Kettleborough, will also officiate in the second consecutive WTC final, who has once again been appointed TV umpire. Kumar Dharmasena of Sri Lanka will be the fourth umpire while Richie Richardson of West Indies will be the match referee.
ICC is preparing to invite spectators to the stadium
The ICC expects the stadium to be packed with spectators for at least the first 4 days of the World Test Championship final. ICC General Manager of Cricket Wasim Khan said that we are working closely with the Local Organizing Committee (ECB) to ensure that this is a great match for the spectators. We expect the stadium to be full for at least the first four days. We are moving in the right direction.
