Media reports claimed that some senior players of the team were angry with Virat Kohli’s behavior in the final match of the ICC World Test Championship and had also complained to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah. A news agency claimed that Ashwin was among the senior players who complained about Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
Ashwin has ridiculed the media reports through Instagram Story. He wrote, ‘I am searching for a handle named Fake News, there are many funny gossips on it. Oh yes, thank you all. I heard he has changed his name. Virat Kohli announced ahead of the T20 World Cup that he would step down as the captain of the T20 team after the event. After this, before the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he announced that he would also step down as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise team after this season. However, Virat will continue to captain the Test and ODI teams.
