Bangalore. The head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid, interacted with cricketers from the Northeast and Plate Group at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) here on Friday. Dravid, who has experience of working with young players as India’s Under-19 coach and NCA chief, interacted with these players for 45 minutes. These players are taking part in the camp here under the supervision of world-class coaches including Ashes winning bowling coach Troy Cooley. This training camp started on 18 April and will end on 12 May.
BCCI sources said, ‘It was a memorable conversation for the players. This season lasted for about 45 minutes. Dravid’s replacement in the NCA and his longtime partner VVS Laxman was also a part of this conversation. VVS Laxman tweeted, “Many thanks to my good friend and head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, for taking the time to interact with the North East and Plate Group players attending the NCA camp in Bengaluru. I am sure the players would have taken full advantage of this opportunity.
Dravid is away from IPL
Team India coach Rahul Dravid is currently away from IPL. T20 league matches will end on May 29. After this, Team India has to play T20 series from South Africa at home. The 5-match series will be played from June 9 to 19. This year T20 Asia Cup matches are to be held in Sri Lanka. But there are still apprehensions being expressed about its event. Final decision is yet to be made.
This year is going to be important for Rahul Dravid. The T20 World Cup is to be held in Australia in October-November. The Indian team has not won the T20 World Cup title since 2007. Not only this, the team has not been able to capture any ICC trophy since 2013. The new captain will also be responsible for Rohit Sharma. Although Virat Kohli and Rohit have not been able to perform well with the bat so far in IPL 2022.
