Rahul Dravid backs Rohit sharma as team india captain for shorter formats

New Delhi. After the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, many things are going to change in the Indian cricket team. Rahul Dravid will be the new head coach and people will see a new face leading the team in the shortest format of the game. Virat Kohli had already announced that he would step down from his post after the T20 World Cup tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday put an end to all speculations about the new head coach but is yet to choose a successor to Kohli. Many cricket experts consider Rohit Sharma at the forefront while some have suggested the names of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.

According to the report of The Indian Express, “The newly appointed head coach Rahul Dravid has once called Rohit his first choice for T20 International captain. After that took Rahul’s name. The former cricketer was asked in an interview, “Who do you look up to as the next Indian white-ball captain?” On this he took the name of Rohit Sharma. Apart from Rohit, Dravid named KL Rahul as another option.

Rohit Sharma proved his mettle as a successful captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he led Mumbai Indians to a record five title wins. His captaincy records for Team India include the victory of Nidahas Trophy and Asia Cup 2018. It will not come as a surprise to the fans if Hitman gets to lead the team in the upcoming home series against New Zealand. The Indian series against New Zealand is starting from November 17.
