Indian shooter Ramita wins gold by defeating Chinese player in ISSF World Championship
Ramita won the title of world champion in women’s 10m air rifle junior event
New Delhi. Indian shooter Ramita clinched the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle junior event after defeating China’s Ying Shen in a closely contested match 16-12 at the ISSF World Championships here on Wednesday. The highlight of the seventh day of the competition was Ramita’s gold and the first three places in the women’s 50m pistol junior event for India.
India has now won 25 medals in this competition, which includes 10 gold, five silver and 10 bronze medals. India is second only to China in the medal table.
Ramita was level at 12-12 against Ying in the final but after that she won the title by scoring 10.8 and 10.7. Ramita was fourth in the qualification with a score of 629.6 but in the ranking round, she shot 262.8 and topped the tournament to make it to the gold medal match. Tilottama Sen of India won the bronze medal in this event. He scored 261 in the ranking round. Earlier, she had topped the qualification with 633.4 marks. In the same event, Yukti Rajendra finished ninth with a score of 627.1.

Indian girls dominate even in 50m pistol
Indian girls dominated the women’s 50m pistol junior event. Divanshi won the gold medal by scoring 547 points. Varsha Singh came second with 539 marks while Tiana came third with 523 marks. India’s Khushi Kapoor stood fourth in this competition. He scored 521 points.
Rhythm Sangwan won silver medals in women’s 25m standard pistol while Abhinav Chowdhary won silver in men’s 50m pistol junior event. Vijay Veer Sidhu won the bronze medal in men’s 25m standard pistol.
