New Delhi. Ever since Ramiz Raja took over as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), there have been reports that he is trying to change many things within the system. The former batsman had to face a big problem at the very beginning of his tenure as the chairman. After New Zealand, the men’s and women’s teams of England canceled their tours, which also caused financial loss to the board. Now, some media reports from Pakistan have revealed that Rameez has instructed the board officials and staff to reduce spending within the organization for the uplift and development of Pakistan Cricket.
Not only this, Rameez Raja also spoke to the employees and officers who are getting huge salaries at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and also indirectly warned them. According to a report in The News, Rameez told board officials, ground staff and management, “We all have to work to justify our position.” If the team does not become No. 1, then there is no point in us being here. According to the report, the chairman claimed that he has learned such methods from Prime Minister Imran Khan so that he can reduce expenses. Khan apparently shared the ways in which he saves expenses at the PM’s residence and office.
The PCB chairman said, ‘We have to cut the expenses of the board. Drink 1 cup of tea instead of 2, use less air conditioner and switch off the lights when you leave your office. If our team doesn’t become the No. 1 team in the world, then there is no reason for all of us to be here. We have to work to justify our presence here.
After the appointment of Raja, there has been a new enthusiasm in Pakistan cricket. He urged everyone to work towards bettering themselves. Even the cricketers have been asked to show how well they can perform. Raja has expressed his desire to improve grassroots cricket. He has also given instructions to improve the pitches in domestic level cricket, so that the youngsters get better conditions to train.
