Shikha Shreya / Ranchi. MS Dhoni, the star of Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, has spread his wings in cricket. After this, another cricketer is ready to shine like Mahi i.e. Dhoni from Ranchi. The name of this player is Robin Minz. He is the first tribal cricketer from Jharkhand to be selected by Mumbai Indians. Robin will go to England for IPL training.

Robin told Local 18 that I am very happy with this selection. Last year my selection kept happening. The biggest contribution in this is from my coaches Chanchal Bhattacharya and Asif Sir. Both of them have put a lot of faith in me from the beginning and have explained things in detail and have always motivated me to work hard.

playing cricket since the age of 8

Robin told that he has been playing cricket since he was 8 years old. Had a passion for playing cricket since childhood. This passion was noticed by his father (who is a retired army person). Robin tells that seeing you playing cricket, father said that you should take admission in cricket academy, you play good cricket. I also obeyed my father and took admission and after that the journey of cricket started again.

contribution of parents

Robin says that the cooperation of parents in the house was very special. There are also two sisters. One big and one small. who is currently studying. When my father was in the army, my mother used to take me to the academy for cricket. Along with this, she used to take special care of me at home as well. I have studied from DAV of Namkum till class 10th. After that I gave my full time to cricket. My father also supported my decision. At present, I am playing as a wicketkeeper/batsman for Sonnet Cricket Club of Namkum.

Was disappointed for not getting selected

Robin says that last year I was called for trial by Lucknow Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. Out of these, I gave trial for Delhi Capitals. But I could not get selected. I had reached here by working hard. Felt bad, but the coach explained that this is the time to learn and work harder, not to get discouraged. So started preparing once again.

Considers Dhoni as his ideal

Robin tells that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is my ideal. I also do wicketkeeping and I find his method of wicketkeeping very good. The way he plays with presence of mind, it is wonderful to watch. His calmness, good behavior and discipline at all times and in every situation – all these things motivate him a lot.

Coach Chanchal Bhattacharya and Asif congratulated

Coach Chanchal Bhattacharya told that Robin had worked very hard, today he got the result. We hope that tomorrow it will play for the Indian team as well. Coach Asif told that everything from Robin’s fitness to wicketkeeping is excellent. There was a time when he was playing brilliantly. But his selection was not happening anywhere. Under-19 open trial was held during 2020-21. He scored 60 runs in his first try match. Hit 5 sixes. At that time the attention of JSCA selectors went towards Robin and selected him. He does lefty batting and wicketkeeping. However, the journey is still a bit long and a test of fire has to be given. But we hope hard work and dedication will make it reach its destination.
