Ranji Trophy semi-final being played between Saurashtra and Karnataka
Sheldon Jackson of Saurashtra scored 20th century of first class career
New Delhi. Saurashtra wicket-keeper batsman Sheldon Jackson, who has scored runs in Indian domestic cricket, has scored a century against Karnataka in the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy 2022-23. Sheldon completed his 100 runs in 143 balls. During this, this batter of Saurashtra hit 17 fours. Sheldon has his first century in this Ranji Trophy season. At the same time, his bat is spewing runs against Karnataka. He scored his fourth century in the 10th innings against Mayank Agarwal’s home team Karnataka. This is the 20th century of Jackson’s first class career. With this century, he completed six and a half thousand runs in first class cricket.
Sheldon Jackson averages close to 50 in domestic cricket. Despite this, he had to struggle to make a place in Team India and even in the home team. He had tweeted about this last year. In this, he wrote that if I have performed well in three seasons, then I have the right to dream and expect selection.
Jackson further wrote in the same tweet, “I can be selected on the basis of my performance and not on the basis of age. So tired of hearing that I’m a good player and performer, but I’m old. I am now 35 years old and not 75.
Sheldon Jackson has so far scored 500 runs in Ranji Trophy 2022-23 at an average of over 41. In this season, he has scored 1 century and 3 half-centuries so far. His century against Karnataka is therefore important. Because in response to 407 runs in the first innings of this team, Saurashtra had lost 3 wickets within 100 runs. Coming out to bat at number four, Jackson made a big partnership with Arpit Vasavada. Till the time of writing the news, Jackson has shared a partnership of more than 190 runs with Arpit.
