Ranji Trophy: The batsman who has scored a triple century, bats fiercely… pulled out the team in trouble… close to the century


new Delhi. Gujarat’s Priyank Panchal played an important inning of 87 runs for his team against Chandigarh in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Priyank saved the team from getting into trouble and by making small partnerships, the score reached 249 runs at the loss of three wickets till the end of the second day’s play. Priyank is the same cricketer who has also scored a triple century in Ranji Trophy. He became the first batsman to do so in the history of Gujarat team.

In the match, the Chandigarh team was all out for 304 runs in the first innings. By the end of the day’s play, Panchal was playing 87 runs in 146 balls with the help of eight fours and a six. Wicket-keeper batsman Het Patel is supporting him by scoring 37 runs. Both have made an unbroken partnership of 53 runs. The Gujarat team is now just 55 runs behind Chandigarh with seven wickets remaining.

Panchal had earlier made two important partnerships with Ketan Patel (47) and Priyesh Patel (62). Earlier, the Chandigarh team got all out in 116 overs by adding 57 more runs to their yesterday’s score.

Bhagmender Lather played an inning of 87 runs while Arsalan Khan contributed 56 and Gaurav Puri contributed 51 runs. For Gujarat, Sneh Patel took four wickets for 85 runs while Siddharth Desai took two wickets for 74 runs.

Lather also did wonders in bowling, taking all three wickets of Gujarat. On the other hand, the match between Railways and Madhya Pradesh in Indore is at an exciting turn where both the teams have a chance to take lead in the first innings.

In reply to Railways’ 274 in the first innings, Madhya Pradesh has scored 243 for eight wickets. Madhya Pradesh’s team is behind by 31 runs while it has two wickets remaining. For Madhya Pradesh, Rajat Patidar scored 54, Himanshu Mantri scored 48 and Shubham Sharma scored 40 runs. For Railways, Sagar Jadhav took four wickets for 28 runs.

At the same time, in Nagpur, Vidarbha took an 81-run lead over Jammu and Kashmir by scoring 272 runs in the first innings, and then in the second innings, the visiting team’s score was 75 for three, keeping the upper hand. Aditya Sarwate (75), Atharva Taide (74) and Harsh Dubey (55) scored half-centuries for Vidarbha. Umar Nazir Mir took five wickets while Abid Mushtaq took three wickets.
