Nagpur. Left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate took 11 wickets as Vidarbha bundled out Gujarat for 54, chasing an easy target of 73, to win by 18 runs on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Group D match. Vidarbha has defended the lowest score in the history of first-class cricket in India. Before this, Bihar had defeated Delhi in 1948. Had registered victory after giving a target of only 78 runs in 49 runs. On this ground, from February 9, the Indian team has to play the first Test against Australia. In the match, 15 wickets fell on the first day and 16 wickets on the second day.
The Ranji match was played on an adjacent pitch, on which the Test is not to be played. Gujarat started playing ahead of six runs for one wicket and the whole team was dismissed for 54 runs in 31 overs. Sarwate took six wickets for 17 runs in 15.3 overs. He took five wickets in the first innings. Left arm spinner Harsh Dubey took three wickets. For Gujarat, only number three batsman Siddharth Desai could reach double digits, scoring 18 runs.
Vidarbha had scored 74 runs in the first innings while Gujarat scored 256 runs to take a lead of 182 runs. Vidarbha scored 254 runs in the second innings and gave a target of 73 runs to Gujarat. Vidarbha made a spectacular comeback in their second innings. Jitesh Sharma played an innings of 69 runs in 53 balls, while number 9 batsman Nachiket Bhute also made an important contribution of 42 runs in 66 balls. Siddharth Desai has been brilliant for Gujarat. He bowled brilliantly with 6/74 to bundle out Vidarbha for 256.
But Aditya Sarwate was in a different mood. He destroyed the wickets of the Gujarat batsmen like a house of cards. Apart from Aditya, Harsh Dubey took 3 wickets for 11 runs in 9.0 overs. Vidarbha secured six points from the match to go joint second with Punjab.
