Ravi Shastri goes down memory lane shares pictures with iconic Audi 100 see pics


Former Indian cricket team player and head coach Ravi Shastri has shared on social media pictures of his restored Audi car, which he won in the World Championship of Cricket 1985 (Benson and Hadges Cup 1985). Shastri got emotional after seeing his Audi 100 car back in 37 years old look and he has also shared it with the fans. The Super Car Club of India has restored this prized Audi car. This means that the car has been brought back to the same look as it was in 1985 when Shastri got it for the first time. Gautam Singhania handed over this vintage Audi 100 car to former head coach Shastri.

The Indian team won the 1985 World Championship of Cricket title by defeating Pakistan by eight wickets in the final played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) under the captaincy of Sunil Gavaskar, two years after winning the 1983 World Cup. Shastri did an amazing job in this entire tournament. He took eight wickets in five matches of the tournament, scoring 182 runs at an average of 45.50. For this performance, he was awarded the Audi 100 Car as the Player of the Tournament. There were some problems in bringing this car to India. But then the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi took a big decision to waive the tax so that this car could be brought to India.

Shastri has now once again brought back his 37 year old memories by looking at the same car. He has posted some photos of his restored car on Twitter. He said, ‘Everything is as it was in the first day (1985). I drive an Audi car and it’s an emotional moment to see this car restored. It is the property of the country. Shastri is looking at his Audi car after almost 10 years.
