Former head coach Ravi Shastri has described his seven-year-long stint in the Indian cricket team as “unbelievable”. In his emotional post written on Twitter, Shastri has also mentioned Virat Kohli, the new captain of the T20 team Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane. Shastri, who played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India, took over as the coach of Team India in 2014. Under his guidance, the team reached the Test top and also made it to the final of the World Test Championship in England. Also, as his coach, the team won the Test series in Australia after 70 years.
Now that the penny has dropped…thank you so much for making me part of this incredible journey. Memories that I will cherish and a team that I will continue to back till the time I’m able to watch the sport #TeamIndia @imVkohli @ImRo45 @ajinkyarahane88

Shastri wrote on Twitter, ‘Now that this innings is over… Many thanks to everyone for being a part of this ‘incredible’ journey. I will always cherish and cheer for this team. I will keep watching cricket as long as I am able to watch the game. The former head coach has also tagged this tweet of the Indian team’s ODI and Test captain Virat Kohli, the new captain of the T20 team Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane, who was appointed the captain of the Indian team for the first Test against India.
However, Shastri’s tenure ended on a disappointing note as the Indian team could not even reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021. The team lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in the opening match while they managed to beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia. After Shastri, Rahul Dravid has now become the new coach of the Indian team and he will be seen in the role of coach for the first time against the upcoming T20 series and Test match against New Zealand.
