Ravichandran Ashwin has bowled the most overs in IPL, record is also strong in the case of ‘miser’


New Delhi. Throwing a lot of overs while being very economical in T20 cricket is no less than ‘climbing Everest’. Talking about the Indian Premier League (IPL), off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has done this job well. Ashwin holds the record for bowling the most 699 overs and has done so with a good economy of 7.1 (runs given per over). In terms of wickets, this is the second best economy among the top 10 bowlers of IPL. Only Sunil Narine is below Ashwin in the economy but the Indian off-spinner has taken more wickets than the West Indies player.

Ashwin, who has been playing in IPL since 2009, has so far taken 173 wickets for 4902 runs in 699 overs keeping four maidens. Apart from Ashwin and Sunil Narine (624.1 overs), only Piyush Chawla (603.4 overs) has bowled more than 600 overs in IPL. Ashwin’s Rajasthan Royals and Naren’s Kolkata Knight Riders team have failed to make it to the IPL playoffs.

Most wickets in the name of Yuzvendra Chahal
The most wickets in IPL at this time are in the name of Yuzvendra Chahal (144 matches, 187 wickets, economy 7.66). Sunil Narine is eighth with 163 wickets and an economy of 6.73, Ravindra Jadeja is ninth with 151 wickets and an economy of 7.59 and Harbhajan Singh is in 10th place with 150 wickets and an economy of 7.07. Talking about IPL-2023, Ashwin took 14 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 26.28 and a strike rate of 7.51 while Narine took 11 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 34.81 and an average of 7.97.
