New Delhi. Just before the current season of IPL, Ravindra Jadeja was given the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings. Under his captaincy, the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who made Chennai the champion 4 times, decided to give the responsibility to Jadeja. Now in the middle of the season, Jadeja handed the captaincy back to Dhoni. The performance of the Chennai team under the captaincy of Jadeja was very poor. Even the individual performance of this Indian all-rounder was not special. When Jadeja decided to step down from the captaincy, he was applauded by many big names in the cricket world.
Ravindra Jadeja Graeme Swann and former India head coach Ravi Shastri also supported K’s decision to step down as CSK. Swann said that it was a very honest decision for the all-rounder to accept that captaincy is beyond his control. He is not comfortable with it. The former English cricketer also said that sometimes arrogance does not allow people to accept things easily but Jadeja took a commendable step.
Swann told Star Sports, ‘We all have our favorite teams. It is such a big deal for Jadeja to admit that ‘Look, captaincy is out of my league. I am not comfortable with it. The ego doesn’t allow you to say it comfortably. Hence, the fact that he took this step and asked MS (Dhoni) to lead back. It is better for them too.
He further said, ‘Not only the CSK team, it is also good news for the fans and those who love it. Honestly, I like them too. I think he is fantastic. What he gives to any franchise is unbelievable. CSK team will be half without him.
