Renault Crosses Production of 10 Lakh Units in India, Company Planning to Launch New Cars


Renault, one of the largest automobile companies, has crossed the production of one million units in India. On this occasion, the company introduced Renault painted in red color from its factory in Chennai. Renault has three models of passenger vehicles in the country, the Kwid, the Kiger and the Triber.

The production capacity of the company is 4,80,000 units per annum. Earlier this month, Renault commenced deliveries of the BS6 Phase II compliant Kiger and Triber AMT. The prices of these cars are Rs. 8.12 lakh and Rs. 8.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The company has a network of over 450 sales and 530 service centers in the country. Under the ‘Make in India’ campaign of the Central Government company plans to achieve 90 percent localization in its new cars.

Recently the company launched the RTX (O) variant of Kiger. Its starting price is Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This variant of Renault Kiger has 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity, LED headlamp and tail-lamp, 16-inch alloy wheels. Along with this, some new safety features have also been added. It comes with 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.0L Energy petrol engine options. The company claims that it can give a mileage of 20.62 kmpl. The company says it will convert 90 percent of its cars into electric cars by 2030. It has also informed about launching 10 new electric cars by 2025.

Its sister company Dacia launched a new car called Spring in Europe about two years ago. Electric Car was launched. It looks quite similar to the Kwid sold in India. The company claims that it can give a range of about 305 kilometers in full charge. This electric car has a motor generating 125Nm torque and 44PS and also used a battery of 27.4kWh capacity. Electric Vehicles (EV) sales have grown rapidly in the last few years. Because of this many automobile companies are launching their models in this segment. Apart from this, existing models are also being converted into electric.
