Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra believes that Rinku Singh is the best finisher of IPL 2023 after his match-winning knock for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). CSK set a target of 145 runs to KKR after electing to bat first in Chennai on Sunday, 14th May. Rinku Singh scored 54 runs in 43 balls to help his team achieve the target and keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.

While reviewing the match between CSK and KKR, Akash Chopra praised Rinku Singh on YouTube channel and also said that this young player deserves much more than this. Akash Chopra said, “According to me Rinku Singh is the best finisher of IPL this season. No one is doing it better than them. We are not rewarding, acknowledging or appreciating them enough. He had hit five sixes, but it is not just about those five sixes.

The former Indian opener pointed out that KKR’s middle-order batsmen are at par with respected top-order players like Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. He said, “He has scored more than 400 runs. The number at which he bats, 400 runs are not scored at that number. Virat Kohli has scored 438 and Shubman Gill has scored 475 and he (Rinku Singh) has scored close to 410. Please tell that Rinku Singh has scored 407 runs in 13 matches in IPL 2023 at an average of 50.88 and a strike rate of 143.31.

He further said, “We forget them because we take the top-order batsmen so much. Although he has 20 overs and he has only 15 balls at times. There are only a few occasions when there are 35 balls, or they come in at 30/3. Like he came yesterday. He has been absolutely a star.”
