Team India suffered a crushing defeat by 7 wickets in the first match of the five-match T20 series against South Africa played in Delhi. This was Rishabh Pant’s first match as captain in international cricket and the team’s performance in the very first match looked a bit shaky at the level of bowling and fielding. Apart from this, Team India has got the biggest defeat (defending runs) in T20 International cricket. Now captain Rishabh Pant has also given the reason for this crushing defeat to the Indian team.
In the post match presentation, the new-born captain Rishabh Pant said, “We had enough runs on the board, but I think we were not able to execute in the second innings. However, sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition as well. David Miller And RVD (Rasey van der Dussen) batted brilliantly. When we batted, the slower ball was working, but the wicket got better in the second innings.” It is clear from Pant’s statement that he wants to blame the defeat on the bowlers.

In this match, Team India had to bat first after losing the toss and put 211 runs on the scoreboard. In such a situation, it seemed that the team would easily win the match, but the South African team kept hold of the match from the beginning and then David Miller completed the rest of the work in collaboration with Rasie van der Dussen. The surprising thing was that Rishabh Pant gave the third over 20th to Yuzvendra Chahal, by then it was too late. Despite this, Akshar Patel was beaten up.
