Mumbai. India’s star cricketer Rishabh Pant was brought to Mumbai from Dehradun hospital on Wednesday for treatment of knee and ankle ligament injuries sustained in a car accident. Pant, 25, was injured in a car accident on 30 December. He has been admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The Indian Cricket Board decided to bring him to Mumbai by air ambulance as he was not in a condition to travel by normal flight. Renowned sports orthopedic surgeon Dinshaw Pardiwala will treat him. Pant narrowly escaped the accident when his car collided with the divider on NH 58 while going from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee.
Meanwhile, India’s first individual Olympic gold medallist, Abhinav Bindra hailed the efforts of the BCCI and praised the apex cricket body for taking full responsibility for the recovery of injured Rishabh Pant. After this, he advised that BCCI should also take care of Pant’s mental health. He tweeted, ‘It is good that the board is paying attention to Rishabh’s recovery. Pant should also be provided psychological support as part of the treatment and recovery process.
BCCI secretary Jai Shah said in a press release, ‘Rishabh, who is undergoing treatment at Max Hospital, Dehradun after a car accident on December 30, will be brought to Mumbai in an air ambulance.’ “He will be admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute and will be treated under the direct supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, head of the Center for Sports Medicine and director of Arthroscopy and Shoulder Service at the hospital,” Shah said.
BCCI will do all necessary help
He said, ‘Rishabh will undergo surgery for a ligament injury and will have to undergo post-procedures. The BCCI medical team will take care of him during his recovery and rehabilitation. Shah said, “The board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and provide him all possible support during this period.”
Rishabh Pant met with an accident while traveling from Delhi to Roorkee
Twenty-five-year-old Pant narrowly escaped a horrific car accident when he was traveling from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee, but lost control on National Highway 58 and his car crashed into a divider. Pant had bruises on his forehead, serious back injuries as well as injuries to his knees and ankles. Most of the injuries were minor but ankle and knee injuries are worrying. However, being a centrally contracted cricketer from the BCCI, his injury treatment is the prerogative of the board.
Rishabh Pant will not be able to play IPL
MRI of his injured knee and ankle could not be done as there was a lot of swelling. However, it is understood that any sports-related injury for a centrally contracted cricketer will be treated by BCCI-designated doctors and rehabilitation will take place under the supervision of the Sports and Medical Sciences team at the National Cricket Academy, headed by Dr. Nitin Patel. Pant will no longer be able to play in the Test series against Australia and the breathtaking Indian Premier League.
