Riyan breaks silence on the dispute with Harshal I did not abuse but Siraj called me a kid

Rajasthan Royals’ dream of winning the IPL title for the second time remained unfulfilled after losing by 7 wickets in the final against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. The Royals performed very well throughout the season. Team opener Jos Buttler won the Orange Cap, while leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal won the Purple Cap. Rajasthan Royals, who won the title in the very first season of IPL, made it to the final for the second time in IPL history.

Many players played an important role in the journey of Rajasthan Royals to reach the final of IPL 2022. But youngster Riyan Parag left a different mark. The all-rounder from Assam did not get many chances but he took 17 catches in the season. Parag scored 183 runs in 14 innings. His most memorable innings this season came against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He took the team to a respectable score when he scored an unbeaten 56 off 31 balls for a team struggling to win the match at one point of time.

However, after this innings, there was also a tussle between Parag and RCB players. The young player of Royals has finally spoken openly on this incident.

Recalling an incident, Parag said, “Last year, when we were playing against RCB, Harshal Patel got me out. I was going back. Then, he gestured for me and asked me to leave. I didn’t see it on the spot. I saw all this in replays after coming back to the hotel. It stuck in my mind ever since.

He further added, “Now, when I hit him (Herschl) in the last over (against RCB in IPL 2022), I made the same gesture. I didn’t say anything, I didn’t abuse. But then, Siraj called me. Harshal didn’t say anything.

Parag continued, “When the innings was over, Siraj called and said, ‘Hey, come here, come here’. He said, ‘You are a child, behave like a child’. I told him, ‘ Bhaiya, I am not saying anything to you’. By then, players from both the teams came and it ended there. Later, Harshal did not shake hands with me. Which I thought was a bit immature.
