Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul suffer losses in ICC T20 rankings Not a single Indian in top 10 bowlers


New Delhi. India’s KL Rahul slipped to the sixth place in the list of batsmen in the ICC T20 rankings released on Wednesday. Virat Kohli remains in eighth place as before. Rahul, who scored a half-century in India’s last three matches in the T20 World Cup, has 727 points and has slipped down a place. Rahul, who was appointed the vice-captain of the Indian T20 team, scored 69, 50 and 54 not out against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia respectively. India was knocked out of the Super-12 stage of the tournament itself. Rohit Sharma, the new captain of the Indian T20 team, has also suffered a loss of a notch. Rohit has slipped from 15th to 16th place.

Kohli, who quit as T20 captain after this tournament, remains at the eighth position with 698 points. Only Rahul and Kohli from India feature in the top 10 in the T20 rankings. Among other players, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and David Warner have also made significant improvements in the rankings after playing a key role in their team’s first T20 World Cup. Marsh, who scored an unbeaten 77 in the final against New Zealand, climbed six places to joint 13th while Warner, who was named the player of the tournament, moved up eight places to 33rd.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who scored 85 runs in the final, moved up seven places to 32nd while Devon Conway climbed three places to fourth. Among the bowlers, Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has moved up two places to third, while pacer Josh Hazlewood has moved up two places to sixth. New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult has jumped seven places to reach 14th position.

Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga remains at the top. There is no Indian bowler in the list of top-10 bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah occupies the 15th position. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone has moved up seven places to third in the all-rounders’ list.
