Rohit Sharma repeating the story of last season in IPL, neither he was able to score then nor now

New Delhi. The batting form of Rohit Sharma has increased the concern of the Indian team management before the final of the World Test Championship (WTC 2023 Final) to be held next month. Rohit is currently playing in the IPL but the current season for the captain of Mumbai Indians has been full of disappointment so far. The ‘Hitman’ is failing miserably with the bat and the performance of his team MI has not been up to the mark so far. The team of Mumbai Indians has won only 5 out of their 10 matches and with 10 points is in eighth place on the basis of net runrate.

It is obvious that if the road ahead is difficult for MI, then it is even more difficult for Rohit Sharma. The captain of Team India will have to regain his form in the first batting of the WTC final. The final of the World Test Championship is to be played between India and Australia at The Oval from June 7 to 11.

It is true that the ‘nature’ of the game of T20 and Test cricket is completely different. In T20, where the batsman has to play strokes as soon as he reaches the crease, his patience and technique are tested in Tests. But it is also true that the confidence gained from scoring runs (in whatever format) helps in keeping the batsman’s body language and morale positive. In IPL, Rohit’s team MI will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium today. And along with the result of the match, the performance of Hitman will also be watched by the fans.

Got out for 0 twice this season
Talking about the current season of IPL, Rohit has been able to score only 184 runs in 10 matches so far. During this, his average (18.39) and strike rate (126.89) have been very ordinary. He has been able to score only one half-century and has been dismissed for 0 twice. The shameful record of getting out on 0 for the most number of times in the IPL has also been done in the name of Rohit, he has been dismissed on ‘Duck’ the maximum number of times in the tournament.

Could not score a single half-century in IPL-2022
This is the second consecutive IPL season when Rohit’s bat is upset with him. In IPL-2022, Rohit was able to score only 268 runs at a weak average of 19.14 and a strike rate of 120.17, remaining unbeaten once in 14 matches. Last year in IPL, ‘Hitman’ could not score even a single half-century and his highest score was 48 runs. Overall, Rohit is at number four in terms of scoring the most runs in IPL. He has so far scored 6063 runs (one century, 41 half-centuries) in 237 matches at an average of 29.72 and only Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner are above him in terms of runs.
