New Delhi. The Indian cricket team has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead against Australia by winning two consecutive matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Team India won the Nagpur Test by an innings and 132 runs. Now in the Delhi Test, Australia has once again won by 6 wickets in just 3 days. Cheteshwar Pujara had landed in Delhi to play the 100th Test of his career. Captain Rohit Sharma made a big sacrifice to make it memorable.

The second match of the four-match Test series between India and Australia was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Team India won the match in just 3 days. After winning the toss on the first day, Australian captain Pat Cummins chose to bowl first. On the basis of half-centuries of Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb, the team scored 263 runs in the first innings. After giving India 7 wickets for 139 runs, the visiting team was hoping to take a big lead, but Akshar Patel overturned it by playing an innings of 74 runs.

Australia got a lead of 1 run and in the first session of the third day’s play, the whole team was bundled out for just 113 runs in the second innings. Cheteshwar Pujara (31) and KS Bharat (23) took India to the door of victory. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 31 while Virat Kohli scored 20 runs.

Rohit Sharma made the sacrifice

Cheteshwar Pujara returned without opening an account in his first innings of the 100th Test match. He was about to be dismissed in the second innings as well but captain Rohit Sharma sacrificed his wicket in his place. In fact, in the 7th over of the second innings, Rohit shot and completed one run. He had denied Cheteshwar Pujara for the second run but he came running towards him. After seeing Pujara coming, Rohit instead of taking his step back, extended towards him. If he wanted, he could have saved his wicket by returning to non-strike, but he thought it right to lose his wicket for Pujara in the 100th Test match.
