Abu Dhabi: IPL 2021 is going very bad for Mumbai Indians. After coming down from the top 4, Mumbai has now come to the 5th place. Mumbai defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets on Tuesday. This was Mumbai’s first win in the second leg. With this win, the defending winning team has kept their hopes of going to the playoffs alive. Rohit Sharma has given a big statement regarding the playoffs.
We are ready to fight: Rohit Sharma
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has said that his team may not be in a good position to qualify for the playoffs this season of IPL, but its players are ready to fight. Rohit said, “As a team we haven’t played to our potential, but these things happen when you play in a format where you are competing really hard. It is important to stay within the team and be with each other. This is a long tournament. Yes, we didn’t have the score that we would like but we have been in this position many times so we can take confidence from it. We have players in the team ready to fight.
Rohit said on Hardik’s form
Rohit is happy with all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 40 off 30 balls. Rohit said, ‘The way Hardik understood the situation was important from the team’s point of view and also for himself. It is important that they spend some time in between. Ishan Kishan was very difficult to get out but as a team we felt we needed a chance somewhere. But when you talk to him, he seems to be very confident. Saurabh Tiwary was batting well, he scored 50 runs against CSK. We wanted someone who could be around, and he played that role well. I am not excluding anyone, we want Ishaan to get back in form and play for the team.
He said, ‘Kieron Pollard is one of our key players. Been an important part of the Mumbai team for so many years. Give him the ball or the bat, he is ready to work. Those two wickets (Lokesh Rahul and Chris Gayle) were important.
