New Delhi. In IPL 2021, Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has emerged as the new emperor. Gaikwad played an unbeaten 101 against Rajasthan Royals, although his team Chennai had to face defeat. Gaikwad became the first batsman to score 500 runs in the 14th season of IPL with a century. He also captured the Orange Cap leaving Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul behind. Gaikwad currently has 508 runs in 12 matches. He has scored one century and three half-centuries.
Became the fourth batsman to score a century in IPL 2021
Apart from Gaikwad, only Rajasthan opener Jos Buttler (124), captain Sanju Samson (119) and Devdutt Padikkal (101 *) of Royal Challengers Bangalore have scored centuries in this season of IPL. Apart from this, he is jointly on top with KL Rahul in terms of hitting the most sixes in this season. Both the players have hit 20-20 sixes. Rahul has scored 489 runs in 11 matches this season with the help of five half-centuries.
Sanju Samson reaches top 3
Against Chennai, Sanju Samson scored 28 runs in 24 balls with the help of four fours. Samson has come third in the Orange Cap race with 480 runs in 12 matches. Shikhar Dhawan (462 runs) is at number four in the list of Orange Cap and Faf du Plessis (460 runs) is at number five.
Bumrah moves to third place in the list of Purple Caps
Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore continues to top the list of Purple Cap with 26 wickets in 11 matches. He is followed by Avesh Khan of Delhi Capitals at number two, who has taken 21 wickets in 12 matches. In this list, Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is at the third position with 17 wickets in 12 matches. Punjab Kings fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is at the fourth position with 16 wickets in 10 matches. Mohammad Shami (15 wickets) of Punjab is at number five.
