SA vs NED Lungi Ngidi tests positive for Covid 19 to miss ODI series against Netherlands

Johannesburg. South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has tested positive for Covid-19, ruling him out of the three-match home ODI series against the Netherlands starting Friday at Centurion. The South Africa Cricket Board gave this information on Wednesday. Cricket South Africa (CSA) said in a statement that fast bowler Junior Dala has been included in the team in place of Ngidi.

CSA said,Lungi Ngidi Was forced to leave the tour. Because he has come positive in the Kovid-19 test. He is fine and following the COVID-19 protocol as per government norms of CSA.

Ngidi has not played for South Africa since the Ireland series in July. He did not visit Sri Lanka due to personal reasons. T20 World Cup 2021 He was included in the team for but he did not play in a single match.

South Africa rested 6 important players
The South Africa Cricket Board has appointed Keshav Maharaj as the captain of the team for this series. Six important players of the team, including full-time captain Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock, Rassi van der Dussen, Kagiso Rabada and Enrique Norkhia were rested for the series. This team will see the return of Wayne Parnell on his international comeback.

All three ODIs of the series against the Netherlands will be played at Centurion. The first match will be played on 26 November, the second on 28 November and the third match on 1 December. This series is part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, this tournament will be held in 2023.
