During a routine check-up at his county team Kent, he was diagnosed with skin cancer. This 31-year-old player told the Telegraph, “I had melanoma in my body which was 0.6 mm (deep). When it got 0.7 mm deep then it became really serious, because it was very close to reaching that limit. If I had gone to the meeting instead of getting the test done that day, then I would have to wait for the next six months and then it would have become very serious.

Billings has played three Tests, 28 ODIs and 37 T20 matches for England. He is currently playing county cricket. He warned fellow players and fans about the dangers of spending too much time in the sun. Billings said, “I am not talking only about professional matches. Club cricketers and people watching the game can also fall prey to it. I played at Lord’s recently and it was sunny. Even though the temperature was not 25 degrees, but even at 18 degrees, you can be harmed by the sun. I want everyone to work together on this menace in cricket. If the sun is shining then defend yourself.
