Former captain Salman Butt has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for preparing a flat pitch for domestic matches. He has said that the PCB should make such pitches, so that the result of the match can come out. Earlier this year, Pakistan had hosted Australia for a three-match Test series, out of which the results of two Test matches were not out. After this, the PCB was fiercely criticized by its own players. Later, PCB chairman Rameez Raja said that they did not want to produce bouncy pitches. Butt has now said that due to flat pitches, captains are unable to execute their strategies properly.
A journalist on YouTube channel asked Salman Butt questions on the captaincy of Babar Azam. To this Butt said that the skill of a captain is respected in Test cricket. Salman Butt said, ‘You can tell by looking at the pitch that spinners will play in it. It is difficult to get the result even on the fifth day. Have to wait till the end to see if the pitch breaks or not. It does not test the skill of a captain. To do this go to England and win. Or beat tough teams badly. Pakistan has lost at home before but that won’t win us the match.
Regarding Babar’s captaincy, the former captain said, ‘The skill and tactical ability of the captain is more visible in Test cricket and ODIs, which we play very little. Test cricket gives the best chance to see the potential of the captain. But the kind of pitches we make at home take away everything from the captain in terms of strategy. It has been some time since Babar took over as captain. He has achieved success in the home series against Australia and the team did well in the T20 World Cup last year as well. I think he will get better with time.
