New Delhi. Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar has often come under the target of fans due to his comments on Ravindra Jadeja. He called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ player during the 2019 World Cup. Once again Manjrekar has targeted Jadeja and said that I am still not sure about his batting. Manjerkar’s statement came a few days after Jadeja’s match-winning innings against KKR.
Jadeja scored 22 runs in 8 balls in the last match against KKR. Out of this alone, he scored 21 runs in one over of famous Krishna. In this, he hit 2 sixes and as many fours. Even after this, Manjrekar doubts his batting.
Talking to ESPN Cricinfo, Manjrekar said that I am still not convinced about Jadeja’s batting. Especially the role Chennai has given him. If Jadeja gets equal role in every match, will he be able to continue his performance against better fast bowlers? Because till now he has scored runs by playing big shots on the famous bowlers like Krishna and Harshal Patel. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to bat equally aggressively against the fast bowlers who bowl at good pace and who try to attack him.
Jadeja is in excellent form in IPL 2021. He has so far scored 179 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of over 146. He has also scored a fifty this season.
‘Good for CSK if Jadeja gets his quota of 4 overs’
Manjrekar also admitted that Jadeja becomes more important to his team when he bowls his four overs in T20 cricket. The left-arm spinner has taken 8 wickets while bowling 36 overs in this IPL. He has given runs at an economy rate of 6.66, which will be considered good in terms of T20.
He further said that the important thing that Jadeja has done in his last two matches is that he has completed his quota of overs. Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni breathes a sigh of relief when Jadeja completes his quota of four overs in the match. If Jadeja continues to bowl his full quota of overs, then his importance to the team increases.
