‘Sanju Samson will prove to be more effective in T20 World Cup’, Ravi Shastri explains the reason

New Delhi. Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson performed brilliantly in IPL 2022. Apart from captaincy, he was also very successful in batting. Under his leadership, the team reached the final of the 15th season. It is a different matter that Gujarat Titans, the team that debuted in IPL, defeated him in the title match. This season of IPL was excellent for Sanju Samson. Despite this, he did not get a place in Team India in the T20 series played against South Africa. Former India coach Ravi Shastri has described Samson as one of the contenders for selection for the T20 World Cup to be held later in the year. T20 World Cup will be organized in Australia in October-November this year.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri believes that the captain of Royals will prove to be effective on bouncy pitches in Australia. Because he has more shots than any other Indian batsman. Talking to ESPNcricinfo, Ravi Shastri said, ‘There will be chances between Rahul Tripathi, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson in these 20 matches. But when you look at Australia, Sanju Samson will be more effective there to play cut and pull shots because of the bounce and fast pace. For that position, Sanju has more shots than any other Indian batsman.

A big hit in IPL

Sanju Samson did amazing batting in IPL 2022. Due to his brilliant leadership, the Rajasthan team was successful in reaching the finals. He was the second highest run-scorer for his team. Sanju scored 458 runs in 17 matches. During this, 2 half-centuries came out of his bat. His best score in IPL 2022 was 55 runs. Despite this performance, he missed a place in Team India.

There is speculation about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli due to poor form. Ravi Shastri said, ‘Unless something untoward happens, these two experienced cricketers will be in the T20 World Cup team going to Australia. India has to play a total of 30 matches before joining the World Cup. Ravi Shastri said, due to the passing of the World Cup, I do not think Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah will play all 20 T20 matches. Other players will be given a chance in these matches. I can’t see Rohit and Virat getting out of the team unless something happens due to injury.
