Satwik Sairaj smashes at a speed faster than a bullet train
10 year old record broken, name entered in Guinness Book
New Delhi. India’s star badminton player Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has created a Guinness World Record for the fastest smash. He has scored a smash at a speed of 565 kmph. Means the speed of Satwik’s smash was more than the bullet train. Satwik has broken the record of Malaysian player Tan Boon Heong. Heong hit a smash 10 years ago in 2013 at a speed of 493 kmph. Satwik enters the men’s doubles with his partner Chirag Shetty. Recently he won the Indonesia Open-1000 title with Chirag.
The record for the fastest smash in the women’s section is in the name of Malaysia’s Ten Pearly, who shot at a speed of 438 km per hour. On this occasion, Japan’s sports goods company Yones said, “We are proud to announce that Yonex badminton players Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ten Pearly have created a new Guinness World Record for the fastest smash in men’s and women’s badminton.”

This attempt for the world record took place on April 14, 2023, which has been confirmed by the official judges of the Guinness World Records. Satwik did this smash at the Yonex Factory Gymnasium in Soka, Japan. Meanwhile, Satwik has reached the second round of Korea Open with his partner Chirag Shetty. The Indian pair defeated Thailand’s pair of Supak Jomkoh and Kittinupong Kedran 21-16, 21-14. With this win, the Indian pair has reached the pre-quarterfinals. If Satwik-Chirag win the Korea Open, then this pair will come in second place in the world rankings.
