India won the ODI World Cup at home in 2011
Dhoni adopted this trick throughout the tournament
New Delhi. Is Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni), the former captain of the Indian cricket team, superstitious? Did Team India win the 2011 World Cup because of ‘Totka’? Former explosive opener Virender Sehwag has exposed this secret. Sehwag has told the unheard story of Dhoni. Sehwag says that in the 2011 World Cup, the then captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni adopted a trick throughout the tournament which worked. India then captured the World Cup for the second time after 28 years. Team India had achieved the distinction of becoming the champion in their home by defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
Virender Sehwag said in an ICC program on Star Sports on Tuesday that Dhoni had only eaten khichdi in the entire tournament. Veeru said that in this tournament, Dhoni was not able to do anything special with the bat in most of the matches, but when the Indian team was winning, he continued the trick of eating khichdi. Of course, Mahi may not have scored runs in most of the matches but he did amazing batting in the final. Mahi gave India a memorable victory by playing an unbeaten 91-run innings.
‘Dhoni continues the khichdi trick’
Virender Sehwag said, ‘Everybody had some trick or the other. And every player was trying that trick. Mahendra Singh Dhoni continued the trick of eating khichdi during the entire tournament. He used to say that even though I am not scoring runs, this trick is working and we are winning.
Sehwag scored 380 runs
Virender Sehwag played an important role in making Team India the champion in the 2011 World Cup. Of course, he returned to the pavilion on a personal score of zero in the final, yet he scored a total of 380 runs in the tournament with the help of a century.
