Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the first Test of the two-match Test series against Pakistan. The first Test match will be played between the two teams in Chittagong from Friday. Shakib suffered a hamstring injury during the T20 World Cup and has not recovered from it yet. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) head selector Minhajul Abedin has said that Shakib may take time to recover and in such a situation, Shakib could be out of the entire Test series against Pakistan.
According to the ESPNcricinfo report, Abedin said, ‘Shakib’s hamstring injury has not fully healed. Shakib still needs rehab. Physio is constantly taking care of him. He will not be available for the first Test. We are also not sure that he will be able to play the second Test.
All-rounder Shakib was also out of the three-match T20 International series against Pakistan that began on November 19. Prior to that he had not even played Bangladesh’s last two matches in the T20 World Cup. Coming back from a one-year ban, Shakib has played only one Test of the World Test Championship against the West Indies in February, in which he was also injured in the middle.
