SL vs AUS: Australia beat Sri Lanka in second T20 with Kane Richardson’s ‘four’, take an unassailable lead in the series

New Delhi. Australia also defeated Sri Lanka in the second T20 match thanks to Matthew Wade’s restrained innings after a brilliant performance from medium pacer Kane Richardson. In this match played in Colombo on Wednesday, Australia won by 3 wickets and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Sri Lanka scored 124 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Australia achieved the target for the loss of 7 wickets with 13 balls to spare. The third and final T20 match of the series will be played on June 11 at Pallekal.

Charit Asalanka scored the most runs for Sri Lanka. Batting at number-3, he contributed 39 runs in 33 balls, which included 2 fours and as many sixes. Wicket-keeper batsman Kusal Mendis scored 36 runs in 36 balls hitting 2 fours and 1 six. Together they shared a 66-run partnership for the third wicket. Kane Richardson took 4 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs for Australia. At the same time, Jhye Richardson got 3 wickets while all-rounder Glenn Maxwell took 2 wickets in his name.

Australia’s first wicket captain while chasing the target Aaron Finch Wanindu Hasaranga became the victim of 24 runs as the team dropped to a score of 33. After this, till 6.2 overs, the score of the visiting team became 64 runs for 4 wickets. Then Marcus Stoinis raised hopes but he returned to the pavilion after scoring 9 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Hasaranga took 4 wickets for 33 runs while Dushmanta Chamira and Nuwan Thushara got 1-1 wickets.
