Sri Lanka has been fined 40 per cent of the match fee for slow over rate in the second T20 match against Australia. Match referee Ranjan Madugalle fined Dasun Shanaka’s team for bowling two overs short of the time limit.
According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees when teams fail to bowl within the allotted time.
Shanaka accepted the proposed sentence, admitting his guilt, so there was no need for a formal trial. Ground umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Prageeth Rambukwella, third umpire Lyndon Hannibal and fourth umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge filed charges against Sri Lanka.

“Under Section 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Staff, players are fined 20 per cent for each over in the event of a slow over-rate,” the ICC said in a statement.
