Cape Town. South Africa coach and former wicketkeeper Mark Boucher has indicated that he will not reveal his entire team strategy during the India tour in view of the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. South Africa has to play three T20s and as many ODIs in India tour. The T20 series will start on 28 September in Thiruvananthapuram, while the ODI series will start in Lucknow on 6 October. South Africa is to leave for India tour on Friday.
Boucher will step down as South Africa coach after the T20 World Cup. He said, ‘India tour before the World Cup is very big for us.’ He said, ‘We know that we have to play a different brand of cricket in Australia. Don’t expect us to play against India with all our might. We will try to include everyone in India. We have to play three T20s and three ODIs in India which will be enough to get the players in form. I want to look at the combinations and maintain their confidence.
South Africa lost six T20Is in a row after Boucher took charge of the team, but made a comeback, winning five of the last seven T20Is. They lost a series at home to Australia and played the series 2-2 in India. South Africa head coach Mark Boucher was concerned but not selected for Temba Bavuma’s new T20 league SA20, but insisted that the team stood by its captain.
Boucher said, Temba Bavuma is our captain and I support him 100 percent. There is a lot of discussion about this on social media. I don’t care about him. He is the captain of our team and the whole team is with him.
