Sourav Ganguly said, IPL earns more than English Premier League

New Delhi. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) earns more than the prestigious football tournament English Premier League (EPL). In the last season of IPL (IPL-2022), 2 new teams were added in which Gujarat Titans also won the title. The other team was Lucknow Super Giants which also qualified for the playoffs in their very first season.

The 10-team tournament took the total number of matches in the IPL to 74 (70 leagues + 4 knockouts). The duration of the league’s event has exceeded 2 months for the first time since its inception in 2008. The final was played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad where Hardik Pandya-led team Gujarat won the title by defeating Rajasthan Royals. More than 1 lakh spectators were present in the stadium to watch the final.

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said at the India Leadership Council event, ‘I have seen the game grow, where many players like me have scored a few centuries and now have the potential to earn crores. The chairman of the world’s richest cricket board further said, ‘IPL generates more revenue than the English Premier League. It makes me feel happy and proud that the sport I love has become so strong.
