South African batsman Theunis de Bruyn will not be a part of the team in this match. He has returned home midway through the tour. According to Cricket South Africa, Theunis has become a father for the first time. He wants to spend this time with his family, so he has been allowed to return to South Africa.
De Bruyne, 30, was included in the South Africa team in place of Rasi Van der Dussen. He scored 12 runs in the first innings and 28 runs in the second innings in the second and Boxing Day Test of the series played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The visiting team had to face a big defeat in this match. In the absence of Theunis, South Africa can include Heinrich Klaasen or Rasi Van der Dussen in their playing XI for the Sydney Test.
Australia has won the series
In the three-Test series, Australia has already captured the series 2-0 by winning both the opening matches. In the first Test played at Brisbane’s Gaba Ground, South Africa succumbed in just 2 days. The team lost this match by 6 wickets. In the second Test played in Melbourne, the visiting team lost by an innings and 182 runs.
