Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has withdrawn the ban imposed on Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Niroshan Dickwella and now these three cricketers are all set to return to cricket. However, the board has allowed these three cricketers to play only in domestic cricket. The SLC earlier this year handed the three cricketers a one-year ban from international cricket and six months from domestic cricket for violating the bio-bubble during the team’s tour of England.
SLC secretary Mohan de Silva has confirmed that players will be allowed to play domestic cricket. Talking to Daily Mail, de Silva said that the three cricketers will be allowed to play for their respective teams in domestic cricket, provided they have paid their fines. The board had fined him one crore Sri Lankan rupees for the bio-bubble violation.

Mohan de Silva said, ‘We will inform the ministry that we should allow them to play cricket on the condition of paying the fine. The decision to lift the ban on Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Niroshan Dickwella was taken at a board meeting on Tuesday. The three cricketers were criticized from all sides after a video of them breaking the bio-bubble in England went viral on social media. These three cricketers are not part of the Sri Lankan team in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.
