In the second innings, till the end of the fourth day’s play on Wednesday, West Indies took six wickets (25.3 overs) for 52 runs and strengthened their grip in the match. Sri Lanka declared the second innings after scoring 191 runs for 4 wickets, giving the West Indies team a target of 348 runs to win.

After taking a 156-run lead in the first innings, Sri Lanka declared the innings at 191 for four in 40.5 overs, batting aggressively in the second innings. The captain who made 147 in the first innings Dimuth Karunaratne scored 83 runs in the second innings, while the experienced Angelo Mathews played an unbeaten 69 with the help of two sixes and four fours. Dimuth Karunaratne faced 104 balls in the second innings and hit 9 fours.
