After making a place in the T20 World Cup team, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have not been able to show a good game so far in the second phase of IPL 2021 in UAE. Both the players are constantly struggling to score runs. Due to his performance, many questions are constantly arising in the minds of the fans. Some people have even raised the demand to exclude Suryakumar and Kishan from the T20 World Cup team. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has given his opinion on the performance of both the players and explained why both the players are not able to perform well in the IPL.
Speaking on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’, Gavaskar said, “I think Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have gone into a bit of a relaxed mood after getting the Indian caps. It may not have happened, but seeing his shots, it seems so. It seems that they are trying to play these big shots just because they are players of the Indian team. Sometimes it happens that you have to give yourself some time and correct your shot selection and I think he missed this time. Here his shot selection is not quite right and hence he is getting out cheaply.
Gavaskar also expressed his opinion about the Indian team’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya here. He said, ‘Hardik not bowling is a big blow not only to Mumbai Indians but also to India, as he was taken as an all-rounder in the team. If you are in the team and are batting at No. 6 or No. 7 and are not able to bowl then it becomes very difficult for the captain here. Because of this, the captain does not get the flexibility and options that are necessary for an all-rounder batting at No. 6 or 7.
