New Delhi: The ICC T20 World Cup is going to start in Oman and UAE from next month. According to experts, India is a strong contender to win the tournament. Meanwhile, a problem has arisen in front of the Indian team regarding the fitness of Hardik Pandya. India has announced the squad for the T20 World Cup starting from October 17.
Questions arising on Pandya’s selection
Chetan Sharma, chairman of the selection committee, had said that Pandya is fully fit and will bowl the full four overs of his quota in the World Cup. However, the 27-year-old Pandya did not play the first two matches of the UAE leg of the IPL. On Sunday, he got a chance to play against the Royal Challengers, but he did not bowl, after which questions have been raised on his fitness once again. Former player Saba Karim had said that if she is not fully fit then why was she included in the T20 World Cup squad?
Pandya may be out
According to the reports, all-rounder Pandya may be thrown out of the World Cup team due to his fitness. According to the cricket addict, the teams have time till October 10 to change their team. So, if Hardik is unable to provide four overs for the captain, the management is likely to bring in either Shardul Thakur or Shreyas Iyer. Both have been included in the Reserve of India. Meanwhile, sources told IANS that it will be difficult to do so but his fitness is being monitored and BCCI would not like to take any risk.
Big trouble can come in the World Cup
Team India may face problems in the upcoming World Cup tournament if Hardik Pandya is not fit. In fact, Hardik was in very poor form even during the recently concluded Sri Lankan tour. It is very important for him to play in the IPL to return to form once. But due to his fitness, he could not get on the field in the first two matches. In such a situation, a big problem has arisen in front of the Indian cricket team.
