New Delhi. Australia defeated Pakistan (AUS vs PAK) by 5 wickets in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021. Batting first after losing the toss on the Dubai ground, Pakistan scored 176 for 4 in 20 overs. After this, the Australian team achieved the target by losing 5 wickets with 1 over remaining. In the 19th over, Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade snatched the victory from Pakistan’s jaws by hitting Shaheen Afridi for a hat-trick six. Wade played a scintillating innings of 41* off 17 balls in which he hit 2 fours and 4 sixes. Marcus Stoinis scored 40 not out off 31 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Both shared an unbeaten partnership of 81 runs for the sixth wicket.
The match between England and Pakistan was a very good match. I would say that this match was like a final. Pakistan started very well. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who were in excellent form, made a tremendous partnership for the first wicket. The way Babar Azam was batting, it seemed that he would score big. But Pakistan is becoming dependent on top-3 batsmen. Rizwan, being fearless, hit a good shot. However, the turning point in Pakistan’s innings was the batting of Fakhar Zaman, who hit lofty sixes in the last three overs. He hit Mitchell Starc for sixes beautifully. Thanks to Fakhar, the opposition team of Pakistan was successful in giving a target of 177 runs to Australia.
I always felt that Pakistan has won all five matches in Super 12 and the matter should not go against them in the semi-finals. Australia did not start well. At one time it seemed that Pakistan’s team would win. But David Warner, who returned to form in the last match, batted very well. Shadab Khan also bowled well, taking four wickets in 4 overs. It is difficult for a leg spinner to do this. Because of him, Pakistan returned to the match. Shaheen Afridi bowled well in the beginning as usual. In the very first over, Australian captain Aaron Finch was run and put pressure on the Kangaroo team.
Australia’s 5 wickets had fallen but the team did not give up. The partnership of Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis turned the tide of the match. 22 runs were needed from 12 balls and Wade believed in himself. He hit three sixes to Shaheen Afridi and put Australia’s win in the bag.
