New Delhi. Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle is one such cricketer who needs no introduction in any part of the cricket playing countries. The T20 superstar is known across the globe for his myriad on-field exploits of batting attack. Gayle has the power to destroy any dangerous bowling attack in the world. Gayle, who is recognized as the world’s most explosive batsman, has awarded himself the title of ‘Universe Boss’. The all-time great Chris Gayle has gained immense popularity in the shortest format of the Gentlemen’s Game.
However, towards the end of his playing career, 42-year-old Chris Gayle continued to play for West Indies in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021 under the captaincy of fellow T20 champion Kieran Pollard. After winning the ICC T20 World Cup title twice in 2012 and 2016, the ‘Men in Maroon’ has always been considered a favorite in ICC events. Along with this, the fans also support the West Indies team and its players fiercely.
Interestingly, in a video shared by the official social media handle of the T20 World Cup, Chris Gayle is seen making some predictions about the mega ICC event. When asked who would be his pick for the highest run scorer in the competition? On this, Gayle looked ignorant at first, as he kept thinking about his choice, but later he said, “There is so much talent in this T20 World Cup. I do not know. Maybe Babar Azam. He took a jibe at his prediction of choosing the Pakistani captain over his ‘good friend’ and ex-RCB teammate in the IPL, Team India captain Virat Kohli.
When asked which team will make it to the final? Chris Gayle replied, “Ah! This is a difficult one! But apart from West Indies right? I would say New Zealand. They play good team cricket. They always know how to work together.” Who will be the leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup 2021? While predicting this, Gayle took the name of Rashid Khan.
He said, “I think it is going to be a spinner. I don’t know who the spinner is, but if Afghanistan can make it to the final, I would say Rashid Khan. But this is T20 cricket. Anything is possible here.” The West Indies team did not start well with Kieran Pollard in this tournament being held in UAE and Oman this year. After losing to England in their opening match, West Indies have also faced defeat against South Africa in the second match.
