New Delhi. The 15-member Indian team has been announced for the T20 World Cup (T20 World Cup 2021). But during the second phase of IPL 2021, the poor performance of many players has put the BCCI in trouble. In view of this, the board is going to meet on Saturday 9 October. Changes can be approved in the meeting. Captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma, coach Ravi Shastri, board secretary Jay Shah and chief selector Chetan Sharma are reported to have attended the meeting. According to ICC rules, teams can make changes till October 10.
According to the news of Inside Sports, many important decisions can be taken in the meeting. This includes the inclusion of Shreyas Iyer in the team in place of Ishan Kishan. Iyer is currently involved as a reserve player. Ishan could only score 11, 14 and 9 runs in the first three matches of the second leg being played in the UAE. But he played an aggressive innings of 50 not out off 25 balls against Rajasthan Royals in the last match. On the other hand, if we talk about Iyer, he has played an innings of 47 *, 43, 1, 33 * and 2 runs. Apart from this, Suryakumar Yadav has also not been able to perform as expected.
Rahul Chahar’s performance raised concern
Leg spinner Rahul Chahar has not been able to perform much in the UAE so far. He has been able to take only 2 wickets in 4 matches. In the last 2 matches, he did not even find a place in the playing-11. On the other hand, outside the World Cup team, senior leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has increased the pressure on the selectors by taking 11 wickets in 6 matches in the UAE. On the basis of his performance, the RCB team has also reached the IPL playoffs.
Hardik Pandya also not in form, but will be in the team
Talking about all-rounder Hardik Pandya, he has not bowled in IPL 2021. His performance with the bat has also not been good. He has scored 3, 40*, 17 and 5* runs in 4 innings of the second leg played in UAE. Even after this, he is sure to remain in the team. There has also been talk of inclusion of Shardul Thakur in the team as an all-rounder. He is currently included in the World Cup team as a reserve. He has taken 13 wickets while bowling brilliantly in 7 matches played in UAE.
