Delhi Capitals pacer Avesh Khan, who has so far taken 23 wickets in 15 matches in IPL 2021, will soon get a reward for his performance. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked Avesh to stay in the UAE after the conclusion of the 14th season of the league. If reports are to be believed, Avesh will be Team India’s third net bowler after Umran Malik and Harshal Patel for the T20 World Cup. According to the BCCI, fast bowler Avesh may find a place in the list of standby players till the start of the T20 World Cup. In the T20 World Cup 2021, the Indian team will start its campaign against Pakistan on October 24.

A BCCI source close to the selection committee told news agency PTI on Tuesday, “The national selectors have decided to rope in Avesh as well. Right now he will be involved as a net bowler, but if the team management feels then he can be included in the main players. Avesh bowls at an average speed of 142 to 145 kmph, gets good bounce even from flat pitches and has been closely watched by the staff for some time now.

Avesh is second in the list of highest wicket-takers in IPL 2021 along with Harshal Patel (32 wickets). Avesh also went to England as a standby with the Test team, but had to return mid-tour due to a fractured finger during India’s warm-up match against the combined county team. Delhi Capitals will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier-2 on Wednesday and the team that wins the match will take on three-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the final on October 15.
