T20 World Cup will not have Qualifier-Super-12 in 2024, ICC plans to organize tournament in 4 groups


new Delhi: T20 World Cup 2024 is to be organized in West Indies and America next year. ICC is planning to organize this Mahakumbh of cricket in the shortest format of the game in a completely new format. In the last two World Cups held in the years 2021 and 2022, the qualifier round was organized before the Super-12. The ICC has now made up its mind to remove it.

Four groups with five teams will be formed

A total of 20 teams will participate in the next T20 World Cup instead of 16. A total of four groups will be formed, each group will have five teams. Top-2 teams from each group will be given place in Super-8. In the Super-8, two groups of four teams each will be formed. Two teams each from both the groups will enter the semi-finals. After this, the final two teams and the winning team will be selected through knockout matches.

Which team got direct qualification?

West Indies and America, who are organizing T20 World Cup 2024, have got direct qualification. Top-8 teams of the World Cup played in Australia have also been given a place in this list. India, England, Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia, Netherlands, South Africa, Sri Lanka have made direct place in T20 World Cup 2024 on the basis of their good performance.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh have also got entry in the next T20 World Cup. He got the qualification on the basis of his T20 ranking till November 14 last year. Now the ICC will determine the remaining eight teams on the basis of their game in the next two years.
