Taipei Open 2022: India’s talented badminton player Tanisha Crasto entered the women’s and mixed doubles quarter-finals after registering a straight game win in the Taipei Open Super 300 tournament. Former Commonwealth Games gold medalist Parupalli Kashyap also made it to the last eight while Mithun Manjunath and Kiran George crashed out in the second round of men’s singles.

Sixth seeded pair of Tanisha and Ishaan Bhatnagar defeated Cheng Kei Wen and Wang Yu Qiao of Chinese Taipei 21-14, 21-17 to enter the mixed doubles quarterfinals. Born in Dubai, 19-year-old Tanisha has played for Bahrain in her junior days. She defeated local players Jia Yin Lin and Lin Yu Hao 21-14, 21-8 along with Shruti Mishra to make it to the last eight of the mixed doubles.
Tanisha and Ishaan will face Malaysia’s Hu Pang Ron and Toh Ei Wei, while in the women’s doubles, they will play the winner of the match between Taipei’s Kuo Yue Wen and Wang Yu Qiao or Hong Tee Yau and Song Heu Yan of Hong Kong.

Trying to make a comeback, Kashyap defeated Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei 21-10, 21-19. He will now play Malaysia’s Soong Ju Wen. Mithun was defeated by fourth seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan 22-24, 21-5, 21-17. On the other hand, Odisha Open champion Kiran was defeated by world number four Chou Tien Chen 23-21, 16-21, 21-7. Priyanshu, who was a member of the Thomas Cup winning Indian team, also lost while Samia Imad Farooqui suffered a loss in the women’s singles. MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila lost in men’s doubles.
