Tax exemption will be available on buying electric vehicle in Rajasthan


Measures are being taken to promote Electric Vehicles (EV) in many states of the country. The Rajasthan government has implemented a new electric vehicle policy giving grants to EV buyers. Under this, the state government has approved a contribution of Rs 40 crore for the purchase of EVs.

The objective of this policy is to increase the number of electric vehicles in the state. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced this policy in the state budget. The state government has issued a notification to implement the Rajasthan Electric Vehicle Policy (REVP). The draft of this policy was approved a few months back. EV To encourage the purchase of goods, the state government will give exemption in State Goods and Services Tax (SGST). Incentives are also being given by the Central Government to promote electric vehicles in the country. Some foreign automobile companies are also launching their EV models in this market.

However, Tesla, the largest electric car maker, has postponed plans to start its business in India due to non-receipt of import duty. German automobile company Mercedes Benz plans to grab the top position in the country’s EV market. Mercedes will benefit from Tesla not having a presence in the country. This year the company will launch three electric cars.

Martin Schwenk, Mercedes business head in India, says that the company will start assembling a luxury EV as well as a fast charging network across the country. It may also consider manufacturing batteries in the country. Martin said, “We are starting aggressively in the EV market. In the next five years, our sale About 25 percent of that will come from EVs. Our ambition is to be ahead in the electric segment.” Mercedes will debut in the country’s luxury EV market with an imported electric model of its AMG EQS 53 4MATIC performance car. Its price will be around Rs 2.45 crore. Single charge of this car will have a range of up to 580 kms.This will be followed by the launch of the locally assembled electric version of the S-Class sedan EQS.
